I’m always amazed at what I learn when I’m writing for a new community. In this case, the city of Vernon is a mere 40-minute drive from my home and yet, until I was awarded the contract to write their 2013 visitor’s guide, I (like so many others) only drove through Vernon on my way to somewhere else.
